Los Angeles….HERE I COME!!!!!

A couple of weeks ago, I got some of the best news of my junior year! This news really put me in a good way, since especially I been researching this decision of all of first semester.  I’m also ecstatic because this is also means more traveling! The best news of my junior year was when I found out I got accepted into a research program at UCLA! There is sooooo much to experience while in Los Angeles and I can’t wait to partake in! Below is my acceptance email:

Congratulations! You have been selected to participate in the 2011 Summer Humanities Institute on behalf of the
Ralph J. Bunche Center for African American Studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
The Summer Humanities Institute is co-sponsored by the Graduate Division at UCLA and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
Your selection was based on your outstanding qualifications and potential for scholarly distinction in the humanities
and social sciences. We anticipate that the program we have planned will provide you with the research skills and
resources necessary to plan ahead and successfully apply to a masters or doctorate program in the humanities and
social sciences. Through activities associated with SHI, we expect you will be able to obtain a preview experience
of the intellectual and personal challenges demanded by a course of graduate study.

One of the best times of my life was when I went to Europe the summer going into my Junior year in high school. My cousin and I went together along with some classmates. We stayed for a week and saw so many places…Cathedrals, Restuarants, Shopping, etc. It was a very remarkable time. It is a memory I will keep with me.
